More than 62,000 certified signatures in support of a popular legislative initiative bill calling for a nationwide ban on the use of cages for all animals farmed for food have been officially submitted to the Italian Senate.

Today’s NIH announcement included more than $88 million in funding for biomedical infrastructure supporting alternatives to animal experiments, more than $7 million in awards for technologies that can improve scientific measurements without harming animals, and the creation of a new laboratory combining human organoid models with robotics, AI and advanced data tools.

Specifically, the FDA seeks to remove outdated references to animal testing, a major step toward clearing regulatory barriers and encouraging drug companies to make greater use of cutting-edge non-animal testing methods.

MEXICO CITY, Mexico — Every year on September 19, Mexico conducts a nationwide emergency drill to strengthen disaster preparedness and promote a culture of prevention. Thanks to a pioneering collaboration between animal protection organization Humane World for Animals and Mexico City’s Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection , this year’s drill included an animal-inclusive evacuation exercise at the Infonavit Iztacalco housing in the Iztacalco Borough.
