Humane World for Animals makes change at scale, advocating for policy change at all levels of government and working with companies so that they can be kinder to animals their businesses impact. In South Korea, India and Viet Nam, we work with communities to make lasting change for animals—doing it all with a compassionate and welcoming approach.
India
Humane World for Animals is one of the few groups in India striving to protect all animals. We want to give farmed animals freedom to move, and we advocate for a more plant-based food system. We want to transition testing and research to animal-free methods and manage street dog populations with compassion. We aid animals in crisis situations, and we teach people how to peacefully coexist with animals, be it on the streets with dogs or wild animals in nature.
South Korea
To ensure South Korea's dog meat ban is effective, we’re increasing public support for the ban during the phase-out period. And we’re focused on humane management of the remaining dogs still in the industry. We're also including promoting state-of-the-art science to replace animal testing in the country.
Viet Nam
Thanks to dedicated advocates, Viet Nam passed two major animal welfare laws in the past decade. But some species are still at risk.
Deutschland
Zu den wichtigsten Tierschutzthemen in Deutschland gehören die Einfuhr von Tiertrophäen, das Wohlergehen von Straßenkatzen und der Einsatz von Tieren zu Testzwecken in Laboren.

Latin America
Across Latin America, we collaborate with local governments, nonprofit organizations and animal advocates to push for a more humane world.
Brazil
In Brazil, we’re creating a kinder world for animals. Humane World for Animals works hard across Brazil to strengthen and enhance animal welfare protections. We championed the country’s 2023 ban on animal testing for cosmetics and the removal of animal testing requirements for other industries. We continue to advocate for the welfare of farmed animals and a more equitable, sustainable and plant-forward food system.
Costa Rica
In Costa Rica, we're creating a kinder world for animals. Humane World is working to improve the lives of both free-roaming and owned dogs and cats in rural areas of the country, partnering with local groups to support better standards for farmed animals, and equipping law enforcement to tackle wildlife trafficking and animal cruelty through our training programs.
Mexico
In the wild or on the streets, we help protect Mexico's animals. And we’re confronting the root causes of their suffering for a kinder tomorrow.

Canada
More than 80,000 animal species range across Canada’s vast and varied environments. Unfortunately, many of these wild animals face threats from humans. Each year, millions are subjected to cruel practices such as the global trade in wild animal parts, trophy hunting, captivity, wildlife culls and more. Humane World for Animals is working hard to help. We protect these animals through landmark policy change, humane technologies, direct rescue work and specialized care.
United States
In the United States, Humane World for Animals is fighting for farmed animals, advocating for animals used in research, keeping companion animals with their families, and caring for animals in crisis. We work in partnership with communities, bringing diverse expertise to the most complex issues and doing it all with a compassionate and welcoming approach.
Lion exploitation
Social media is flooded with heart-warming images of visitors cuddling lion cubs and “rescued” lions walking peacefully alongside visitors and volunteers. However, the interaction with these animals is falsely portrayed. The cuddled and petted cubs and older lions are anything but safe, loved and rescued from an otherwise doomed life.
