Our Impact
Brazil established its first animal welfare law in 1934. Since then, the country has passed further legislation prohibiting animal abuse, regulating spay/neuter practices, limiting animal testing, establishing more humane slaughter regulations and more.
Humane World for Animals works hard across Brazil to strengthen and enhance these protections. We championed the country’s 2023 ban on animal testing for cosmetics and the removal of animal testing requirements for other industries. We’ve successfully advocated for companies and producers to improve the welfare of farmed animals, especially hens kept for egg production and mother pigs kept for breeding. And we’ve made major strides toward transitioning Brazil’s food systems to be more equitable, sustainable and plant-forward.
We’re there for animals who are suffering in Brazil today. And we’re confronting the root causes of that suffering for a kinder tomorrow.
