Animals on track to win at the polls in Colorado as results show voters rejecting Amendment 83; banning foie gras in Denver
Election night results show Colorado voters rejecting Amendment 83, which would have enshrined the “right to hunt” into the state’s constitution. Amendment 83’s vague and troubling language, including the allowance of undefined “traditional methods” to kill wildlife, could potentially have led to the overturning of the state’s bans on cruel and widely despised practices such as luring bears with piles of smelly bait for an easy shot, chasing down bears with packs of trailing hounds, or catching and killing wildlife with steel-jawed leghold and body-crushing traps and snares.

Animal welfare matters to everyone: Meat-eaters also want higher farm animal welfare standards
BERLIN – Calls for better animal welfare in the food system are not limited to a vegetarian or vegan minority. This is one of the findings of the representative Humane World for Animals Animal Welfare Barometer 2026, for which more than 1,500 people in Germany were surveyed at the beginning of the year. According to the survey, 80.7% of respondents say they eat everything, while 8.6% identify as vegetarian and 2.5% as vegan. Nevertheless, calls for greater transparency, improved farming conditions and practices, and binding political action receive broad support even among people who consume meat and other animal products.
