New EU strategy must help farmers move toward a more humane food system

The European Commission published its EU Strategy on Livestock with the goal of helping the animal agriculture sector become more crisis-resilient, globally competitive and sustainable. Humane World for Animals cautiously welcomes this Strategy, with its express commitments to advancing farmed animal welfare, but emphasises that it is crucial that intensive animal production does not carry on with business as usual.

End the Cage Age: What happened to the European Commission’s promise?

BRUSSELS―Walk into a supermarket in much of Europe today and you can see what many people want for farmed animals: more eggs from cage-free hens, more plant-based options and more higher-welfare choices.

Site visits to the mobile field clinics in the north (spay/neuter and wellness) to observe clinic operations. Visited remote coastal communities known as “Caletas” surrounding Fray Jorge National Park and outreach to unhoused populations in Santiago.
