LONDON — International outerwear brand Woolrich Europe has officially announced a fur-free commitment in collaboration with the Fur Free Alliance, a coalition of 45 animal protection organizations in more than 30 countries. The announcement comes following more than 200,000 emails sent to the company and public demonstrations outside stores across Europe.

SEOUL―In a major milestone for global animal protection, international animal group Humane World for Animals (previously called Humane Society International) has completed its final large-scale dog meat farm rescue mission in South Korea before the country's historic ban on the dog meat industry comes into full enforcement in February 2027. The group rescued more than 70 dogs from a dog meat farm in Gangjin this week, marking a poignant final chapter for Humane World for Animals, which has rescued almost 3,000 dogs from South Korea’s dog meat farms since 2015.

ROME—Humane World for Animals, formerly called Humane Society International, welcomes the submission of two parliamentary questions by Italian policy makers concerning the removal of Russian sable fur pelts from the list of products subject to the trade ban under the European Union’s sanctions regime against Russia.

ROME—Thirteen pit bull-type dogs from an illegal dogfighting and underground betting ring — including four puppies and a pregnant female — were recently seized in Gela, Sicily, as part of an operation conducted by the Italian State Police, the CITES units of the Carabinieri in Rome and Palermo and the Agrigento Nature Anti-Crime Unit. The seizure was originally triggered when local citizens alerted police to a man seen with a small dog who had been reported missing. On searching the man’s home, officers found a dog with muzzle and body injuries consistent with dogfighting wounds and subsequently rescued 13 pit bull-type dogs who were placed in the care of veterinarians from the Provincial Health Authority of Palermo.

BRUSSELS ―The Icelandic government has formally confirmed it will introduce a legislative bill in February 2027 to amend the Whaling Act, giving “particular consideration” to a permanent ban on whaling, an announcement welcomed by Humane World for Animals (formerly called Humane Society International).
