Our Animal Rescue Team is in Texas rescuing more than 70 animals, including many dogs and young puppies, from an alleged neglect situation. Many are in poor condition and desperately need care.
Several of the dogs appear very thin, with missing fur and wounds. They have no apparent access to food and are living in filthy conditions. Please give now to help these animals in urgent need and support all our lifesaving work.
Updates
February 5, 2026: Our team is working tirelessly to ensure these animals get the care they need and deserve. Watch a video of the rescue.
February 4, 2026: Veterinarians identified a variety of ailments throughout the population:
- Many of the dogs have various stages of painful dental disease.
- A female dog was suffering from a severe, long term ear infection, causing her ear canals to swell shut while hematomas developed on her outer ears from scratching.
- X-rays on an emaciated dog revealed that she had been suffering from a fractured and dislocated hip and a foreign object in her stomach, which turned out to be an ingested penny.
- Another dog required x-rays on her front leg, which revealed she had an improperly healed broken bone with birdshot fragments embedded in her leg.
- Most of the dogs had overgrown nails. One dog’s nails were so overgrown that a nail had grew back into his paw pad requiring a veterinary procedure and medication.
- A male dog was found to have cataracts in both of his eyes—one of which is particularly severe and will require a consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist.

Responders noted that as they’ve done in-depth vet exams, many of the animals are starting to perk up and show their personalities. Some of the dogs are trying to play and the cat (who had been found in a closet after we got most of the dogs out of the residence) has been very eager for attention at the emergency shelter—she’s purring, making biscuits and soliciting petting.
February 3, 2026: Law enforcement served a search and seizure warrant on a residential property at approximately 7:30 a.m. Responders noted a strong ammonia smell from outside, while dogs perched on windowsills barking and clamoring at their rescuers. Inside, our team was met with an overwhelming scene: a chorus of barking from dogs roaming throughout the residence, with feces and urine coating much of the flooring and furniture.
Conditions on-scene
- Responders noted a strong ammonia smell from outside, while dogs perched on windowsills barking and clamoring at their rescuers.
- Several chickens, ducks and geese were found in chain link pens outdoors with inadequate protection from the elements, while two horses with overgrown hoofs roamed in the front yard.
- Humane World for Animals responders were met with an overwhelming scene inside the residence: a chorus of barking from dogs roaming throughout, with feces and urine coating much of the floor and furniture.
- Several of the dogs were suffering from skin issues characterized by missing fur, their skin raw and irritated.
- Some of the dogs were noticeably underweight, with protruding ribs and hip bones.
- Responders found a litter of approximately 2-week-old puppies in a dark closet without their mother. Several other nursing puppies of various ages were found throughout the residence, including a young female puppy who was shivering and cowering on the floor as other dogs trampled around her. Veterinarians noted a wound on her head, and that she was lethargic with pale gums, indicating anemia.
- Many of the dogs had scars or wounds, which veterinarians determined were most likely a result of fights over resources in severely overcrowded conditions.

The moment you walk in, it hits you like a wall. Between the constant noise of barking, filth, odor and the chaos of dozens of dogs in overcrowded conditions, this scene is a complete sensory overload—I can only imagine the stress and suffering these animals have endured living like this.

FAQs
Most of the animals are already showing signs of improvement, though some have a long road to recovery ahead. We always hope to see positive outcomes and a new beginning for the animals we rescue, while recognizing that in alleged cruelty or neglect situations, animals have often been living in poor, unsanitary conditions and suffering from serious health issues without proper veterinary treatment.
The animals were transported to safe, undisclosed locations where they are receiving in-depth veterinary exams and lifesaving treatment. We are focused on addressing their immediate needs at this time but will share information on placement when available.
The animals are in safe locations receiving much-needed treatment and TLC. We keep the location of animals rescued as part of law enforcement seizures confidential for the safety and security of the animals as well as that of our team on the ground.
