Marylanders deserve safer, affordable, more humane eggs
On many egg factory farms — including in Maryland — hens are crammed into cages so small the birds can't spread their wings. The space each laying hen is afforded for her entire life in a cage — less than a single sheet of letter-sized paper.
They are forced to eat, sleep and defecate in the same space and are denied almost everything natural to them. This extreme confinement causes massive suffering and increases food safety risks. Animals and Maryland families deserve better. Many other states and food retailers have adopted cage-free standards – Maryland should follow suit.

Maryland: End hen cruelty
It's time to give Maryland access to safe, affordable, and humane eggs. Add your name to support measures to protect animals Maryland residents.
Did you know?
Factory farming causes billions of animals to suffer every year, but they are not the only ones paying a heavy price.
Stop cruel hen confinement
Some hens in the egg industry are still confined in barren cages so small they can’t even flap their wings. These conditions are not only cruel for the birds, but cages have been associated with higher rates of salmonella.
These organizations are working together to end cruel farming practices on Maryland farms
You can help farm animals
Animals on factory farms never breathe fresh air or feel grass beneath their feet. Your generous gift will support our efforts to improve their lives and other animals in need.
