Frequently asked questions
I have already included a bequest to your former charity name (Humane Society International) in my will. Do I need to change this?
Before February 2025, the official name of Humane World for Animals Europe was Humane Society International - Europe (HSI/Europe). Our official registered address has also changed.
If you have already included a bequest referencing our previous name and address please know that, under Italian law, you do not have to update your will to change this. However, we do recommend that you notify your heirs or executors (where applicable) of the changes to our official name and address, to ensure that there is no confusion. If practical, you can also include a brief note alongside your will reminding your heirs and executors of these changes.
Are bequests to Humane World for Animals Europe subject to inheritance taxes?
If you are resident in the EU, it is usually the case that any bequests left to an EU registered charity in your will, such as Humane World Europe, are exempt from inheritance taxes. However, inheritance taxes can vary between countries at both national and local levels. Because of this, we strongly recommend that you speak to a relevant professional advisor, such as a notary, who will be able to advise you on this in more detail.
