MEXICO CITY—Humane World for Animals Mexico, formerly called Humane Society International Mexico, and the Environmental and Territorial Planning Office (PAOT) of Mexico City have renewed their agreement to continue expanding their long-standing joint efforts to promote animal welfare in the nation’s capital.

The renewed agreement will support ongoing initiatives in animal protection-related enforcement, legislation, cruelty investigations, and forensic training, while expanding to include training in animal behavior and shelter medicine for animal shelter personnel. The aim is to prevent animal cruelty and neglect by identifying and addressing risk factors while strengthening PAOT’s network of animal protection groups.

“PAOT’s commitment to animals is exemplary, and this renewed collaboration allows us to continue supporting their efforts and expand them into preventive and capacity-building actions,” said Antón Aguilar, executive director of Humane World for Animals Mexico. “We want to support and empower the protection groups that work tirelessly every day by providing them with practical knowledge in shelter medicine, animal behavior and learning experiences that can further professionalize their efforts.”

The agreement includes participation from local and international experts who will share practical guidance on how to improve the quality of life for animals in shelters and foster homes, and on how to promote a culture of responsible pet ownership among citizens.
