The official TAFA hotel
Humane World for Animals makes every effort to keep participant expenses at Taking Action for Animals (registration fees and hotel accommodations) as low as possible. We work hard to negotiate the best hotel rates and to make the best use of your registration dollars to keep TAFA affordable. We encourage all participants to reserve a room with the official TAFA hotel. When anyone pays the registration fee and reserves a room with the official TAFA hotel, they are helping to support TAFA 2026 and future conferences.
The hotel booking link is the only approved method to reserve a room in the official Taking Action for Animals block. Humane World for Animals is not working with a housing agency for TAFA 2026. Beware of any unsolicited information from housing agencies misrepresenting that they are reserving rooms on behalf of Humane World for Animals or Taking Action for Animals.
Special notice
We are often in the spotlight, and we are aware that scammers may unfortunately try to target our annual meeting and exhibitors. Attendee list, hotel reservation and invoice scams are some of the most popular phishing emails we see. New legislation and processes are in place to help the event industry combat this growing issue. Event organizers and participants can now report fraud cases to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the agency will investigate and bring cases against scammers.
Please forward any spam emails you receive about TAFA to us for tracking and reporting purposes. If you would like to report a scam yourself, visit the FTC, select “An impersonator” then “Well-known or trusted business.”
As a reminder, we value our customers' privacy and do not sell/share email addresses with any outside party except with official contractors.
Pet policy
While the hotel is pet-friendly, pets are limited to guest rooms and designated public spaces and are not permitted in meeting rooms. For the comfort and safety of all guests—and to ensure your pet’s well-being—we kindly discourage leaving pets unattended in hotel rooms.
For guests staying in the hotel, Omni Shoreham Hotel is a pet-friendly hotel for dogs and cats under 25 pounds. There is a one-time non-refundable pet fee of $150 per reservation, plus a $100 nightly incidental deposit. Service animals accompanying guests with disabilities are always welcome and will not be required to pay the one-time pet charge (no documentation necessary).
Service animals are welcome at TAFA. TAFA abides by the ADA definition of a service animal. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
Transportation
The Omni Shoreham is situated on 11 acres in Washington, D.C.’s Rock Creek Park, located in the Woodley Park neighborhood. The hotel is located one block from the Woodley Park Station located on the Metro Red Line providing access from all of D.C’s main transportation hubs and to downtown D.C. and major attractions. Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation to/from the conference hotel.

Are you REAL ID ready?
As of May 7, 2025, all U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights. This is a new federal security standard for IDs like driver’s licenses. Find out if you’re REAL ID ready. If you’re not yet compliant, you can still board flights with a valid passport or these other acceptable forms of identification. Alternatively, find your state on the map to find out how to get your REAL ID before you leave for TAFA.
