The TAFA 2026 call for presentations will be open January 8 through February 19, 2026.

Taking Action for Animals offers action-oriented workshops that focus on equipping attendees with the practical skills to become more effective, collaborative and impactful animal advocates. TAFA features speakers from across the movement who can offer valuable insights on topics of policy, strategy, community organizing and other areas critical to advancing animal protection.

Our goal is to curate a robust, non-promotional and evidence-informed program that reflects the evolving needs and realities of our movement. We aim to build a program that reflects the wide range of voices and expertise within the animal advocacy community by spotlighting innovative approaches, emerging leaders, and community-driven strategies that advance lasting policy and systems change.

Because TAFA is designed to help advocates put ideas into action, we encourage interactive sessions that incorporate hands-on practice, small-group work or other engaging formats that build real-world advocacy skills. We are especially interested in workshops that reflect a diversity of paths and experiences, while remaining solutions-oriented and accessible for attendees at different stages in their advocacy journey.

The call for presentations process for TAFA 2026 will close at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Thursday, February 19. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Selection process

All proposals will be reviewed with the goal of presenting a comprehensive, objective and relevant conference experience that addresses the most current challenges and opportunities facing animal advocates. Please note that we expect to receive many strong presentation proposals, so not every submission can be selected.

Core selection criteria

  • Relevance of topic: Is the topic timely, important and valuable to Taking Action for Animals attendees? Proposals that clearly describe innovative work not widely available elsewhere will be prioritized.
  • Achievability of workshop outcomes: Is there a clear and realistic alignment between the stated workshop description and its stated learning objectives?
  • Quality of submission: Does the proposal demonstrate clarity, accuracy, depth and a comprehensive understanding of the topic?
  • Engagement and knowledge transfer: Will the workshop actively engage participants, encourage discussion and support practical skill development?
  • Speaker qualifications and experience: Does the speaker(s) have the qualifications and experience to teach on the workshop topic effectively? Does the proposal reflect a variety of perspectives and real-world experiences?

Ready to submit your proposal?

We welcome proposals from across the animal advocacy field and beyond. We encourage submissions that demonstrate skill building in advocacy, collaborative problem-solving and a commitment to strengthening the collective impact of our work. Help us shape a dynamic, inclusive program that equips advocates with the knowledge, skill and inspiration to drive meaningful change for animals in their community.

Please note that if your presentation is selected, each speaker will be required to sign an Event Speaker Agreement. Questions? Email Tara Moran.
