Stop dangerous bills that could wipe out animal cruelty laws!

A monumental threat is facing animals in our country! These two bills in the U.S. Congress would be disastrous for animals.

Ever since the Supreme Court of the United States upheld the strongest farm animal protection law in the country—California's Proposition 12—lobbyists representing only a segment of the pork industry have pushed for federal legislation to undo not just Proposition 12, but other state sales regulations aimed at addressing animal welfare.

The so-called “Food Security and Farm Protection Act” (S. 1326) is identical to the “Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression” (EATS) Act from the last Congress – it just has a new bill name. It is still designed to wipe out state laws that ban the sale of products from cruelly confined egg-laying chickens, mother pigs and calves used for veal. If passed, it could also destroy over a thousand other state laws, including laws aimed at other terrible cruelties, like the abuse of dogs in puppy mills. The Save Our Bacon Act (H.R. 4673) is the same language as the Prop 12 “fix” in the failed 2024 House Farm Bill.

Together, besides attacking protections for animals raised for food, these bills could jeopardize how states set standards for disease and quarantine control, toxic materials, and more.

Animals (and people) need your help to stop the unraveling of even the most basic protections.

TAKE ACTION
Please make a brief, polite phone call to your U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators now and urge them to oppose the Food Security and Farm Protection Act and the Save Our Bacon Act. You can find their contact information here. You can simply say, "As your constituent, I urge you to oppose the Food Security and Farm Protection Act (S. 1326), the Save Our Bacon Act (H.R. 4673), and any other so-called “Prop 12 fix” that could wipe out animal protection laws."

Calling is so important. Please do not skip this crucial step. Then, personalize and submit to send a follow-up message.

This action alert is for U.S. residents.
